DJ R-3X Animatronic Robot Build

Under our INNOVENTIONS subdivision, students are working on designing, coding, and manufacturing a fully functional replica of DJ R-3X!

Ride Engineering Competition 2025

For the Ride Engineering Competition (REC) 2025 prompt, our REC team designed and engineered "Jukebox Joyride"!

Parkitecture 2025
January - March 2025
CAPED designed and hosted the Parkitecture 2025 competition! This competition invited students from different universities to design a themed animal enclosure up to industry standards and judged by industry professionals.

PolyCon 2024 Escape Room
May - June 2024
In collaboration with PolyCon Gaming, CAPED designed and ran "Dry Spell: A Fantasy Escape Room"!

Interactive Ride Project
April 2025 - June 2025
This project allows students to work in a virtual design environment, adopting the "blue sky" process to generate a scale model via 3D-printing, craft techniques, and manufacturing methods.

PolyCon 2025 Escape Room
April 2025 - June 2025
CAPED is designing an escape room themed to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This project includes experience design, puzzle design, prop and set decoration, and fabrication.

Ride Engineering Competition 2024
January - April 2024
"Chaos on Candy Mountain" implemented a unique twist with a ride vehicle turning mechanism controlling riders' views throughout the track layout, which won us 4th place!

ASI Fright Fest Escape Room 2023

​CAPED had the amazing opportunity to design an escape room for Cal Poly ASI's "Fright Fest" event for Halloween, which featured all sorts of themed puzzles!

Ride Engineering Competition 2023

"Jammin' Jungle Ride" won us 1st place in the nation! This project was a culmination of months of manufacturing and prototyping different materials and layouts.

Dark Ride
2019 - 2021
Ever dreamed of creating your own theme park attraction? CAPED used storytelling and design techniques to create a fully-realized dark ride titled "Forced Into Perspective".

Design Competition 2020

In Spring 2020, CAPED hosted a virtual design competition that allowed other clubs to learn and participate in a 9 week long design competition.
